The Challenge
Sanya’s tropical climate poses significant challenges: intense UV radiation, high temperatures, high salt-mist sea breezes, and sudden heavy rainfall. All loudspeakers used in the opening ceremony feature excellent water resistance and weather-resistant characteristics. The enclosure structures and surface coatings are specially treated to resist long-term UV aging and salt-fog corrosion, while sealed designs prevent rain ingress.
The LAX Solution
In an open-air theater subject to shifting sea breezes, the safety of large line arrays is paramount. LAX implemented a strict redundant safety design standard for all rigging components. Load-bearing coefficients far exceeded normal requirements, and a routine inspection regimen ran through the entire event period, providing a solid safety line for all elevated equipment.
Audio engineered a custom, large-scale sound reinforcement solution, specifically tailored to the stadium’s architecture and usage requirements.
