Heritage-Constrained Acoustics: Built in the 1950s and nestled in Yuexiu Hill, the stadium features an irregular, hillside-integrated structure with a low, overhanging canopy—creating severe sound reflection, delay, and interference issues that distorted speech intelligibility.
Preservation vs. Modernization: The renovation followed a “restoring the old as old” principle, requiring minimal structural modifications (no new suspension points or rigging allowed) while meeting FIFA and National Games Grade I acoustic standards (sound pressure uniformity ±1.5dB, speech intelligibility >0.9).
Tight Timeline & Multi-Functionality: The project was completed in 6 months to meet the 2025 National Games deadline, with the system needing to support football matches, athletics events, and large-scale ceremonies—all with zero on-site failure
3D Acoustic Modeling & Custom Design: LAX’s engineering team used Self-developed 3D acoustic simulation software — SOUND DIRECTOR to map the stadium’s unique geometry, optimizing speaker placement and angles to minimize reflections. A “point-to-point coverage” strategy was adopted: line arrays focused on grandstands, fill speakers targeted blind zones, and subwoofers were time-aligned to avoid low-frequency interference.
Low-Impact Installation & Adaptive Technology: Leveraging LAX’s compact, high-directivity speaker design (e.g., AT3212-V2 with 110° horizontal/60° vertical coverage), the team mounted equipment on existing structures without altering the stadium’s historic facade. Neural noise suppression technology in OPD amplifiers eliminated 92% of structural resonance from the hillside terrain.
Redundant System & Rigorous Testing: A dual-loop power redundancy system ensured 0.001s seamless failover for critical components. The system underwent 72-hour continuous stress testing and on-site tuning for all event scenarios, with LAX providing on-site technical support during the National Games
The Olympic Stadium now benefits from a powerful, crystal-clear audio experience that meets international event standards. From opening ceremonies to daily operations, the system delivers consistent sound quality across every seat — enhancing audience engagement and operational confidence.
This project demonstrates LAX Audio’s ability to design, manufacture, and deploy bespoke audio solutions for the world’s most demanding large-scale venues.
