On August 7, 2025, the 12th World Games kicked off in spectacular fashion at Chengdu’s Tianfu International Conference Center. The ceremony took place beneath the iconic “Tianfu Eave”—a 460-meter-long wooden structure, the largest of its kind in Asia—and brought together nearly 6,700 athletes and officials from 116 countries and regions. Celebrating the world’s premier non-Olympic multi-sport event, the evening showcased a dynamic fusion of Sichuan-Chongqing culture, state-of-the-art technology, and youthful energy. However, the elongated, open-air venue posed significant acoustic challenges. The 460-meter horizontal layout risked strong reverberation, while the need to cover a depth of more than 50 meters demanded precise, long-distance sound projection.
To overcome these obstacles, professional audio solutions provider LAX conducted on-site measurements and identified two critical priorities: minimising ground reflections and optimising sound directivity. Using advanced acoustic simulation software, the team modelled speaker placement and calculated optimal hanging height (6 metres) and array angles. This ensured sound was directed precisely toward the audience while suppressing off-target reflections. Audio engineered a custom, large-scale sound reinforcement solution, specifically tailored to the stadium’s architecture and usage requirements.
The result was a scalable, future-proof audio infrastructure capable of supporting sporting events, ceremonies, concerts, and international broadcasts.
On opening night, the LAX system delivered exceptional audio clarity, wide dynamic range, and balanced tonality—crisp highs and rich lows—immersing every audience member in a vivid, cohesive sonic experience that matched the grandeur of the event itself.
