MAOMING, China –On August 9, the opening ceremony of the 17th Guangdong Provincial Games & 10th Guangdong Provincial Games for the Disabled took place at Maoming Olympic Sports Center Gymnasium. The show lasted 70 minutes, including speeches, group singing, orchestral music and local cultural performances.

We are LAX, and we’ve supplied full custom indoor sound systems for many previous provincial games. This time we provided the whole audio solution and kept stable sound throughout the whole event.

This is a huge enclosed indoor stadium. Surrounded multi-layer stands and large stage screens cause strong sound reflection and long reverberation, which is hard to fix.

The event needs clear human voice for speeches, as well as rich dynamic sound for music. Besides, the audio system has to run non-stop for 70 minutes and switch different audio sources quickly without failure.

LAX has finished sound system support for the opening & closing ceremonies of the 14th, 15th and 16th Guangdong Provincial Games. We have rich experience in large indoor sports events.

Our technical team surveyed the venue in advance. We used our self-developed Sound Director 3D simulation software to build a 1:1 digital venue model.

We calculated sound pressure and reflection data, divided the venue into 4 sound coverage zones, and confirmed speaker positions and angles ahead of installation. This solves reverberation and uneven sound problems before the show setup.

We set up three levels of speakers to cover every corner of the venue:

Overhead main sound: 24 units ST212 line array speakers + 4 ST218B subwoofers hung on the ceiling. They reduce sound reflection and balance low frequency for all audience seats.

Stage audio gear: 9 WS218B subwoofers for powerful bass effect; 8 OPD12 stage monitors help performers hear music clearly and stay in sync.

Supplementary speakers: Total 16 U8 speakers. They cover entrance passages and the VIP stand, and 4 extra units are reserved for emergency use.

All speakers are powered by our self-developed MX2000i 4-channel digital power amplifiers, matched with Sound Controller audio platform to build a full digital audio network.

The amps can work under full load for hours without overheating. We can remotely adjust volume, delay and EQ for every single speaker, and switch show audio signals smoothly with almost no delay.

Four Key Advantages

1.We independently develop all software and hardware, so the whole system works perfectly together for multi-zone sound transmission.

2.Pre-show 3D acoustic simulation greatly cuts down on-site debugging work.

3.The system fits both speech playback and high-dynamic music performance perfectly.

4.Our audio equipment is durable and stable. Our local professional engineers stay on-site the whole time for full technical support.

For this provincial sports event, LAX’s integrated audio solution delivered balanced and clear sound for every audience member.

From pre-simulation design and layered speaker layout, to intelligent power amplifiers and full on-site technical service, this project fully proves our domestic professional audio brand’s complete technical strength for large-scale official sports events.
